Jose James – The Dreamer
http://josejamesmusic.com

Jose James is amazing! He is form the same mold as Gil Scott Heron, Terri Collier, Jon Lucian and Bobby Mc Ferrin. The title cut The Dreamer is a jaw dropper. I could have sworn that I was living in the 70’s again. So smooth and to the point, the song felt like the second coming of Gil Scott Heron. The sampling of Freddie Hubbard’s Red Clay on Park Bench People is fantastic. This has to be the most dope cut on the cd. It will be the song I will be yelling for if I ever see Jose in concert. The selection “Nola” is a favorite. I had a flashback of Spike Lee’s “She Got to Have It” when Ronnie Dyson sang this selection in the movie. Jose version has a more personal feel. There ten great selections on this cd, so log on to your favorite cd website and purchase this gem.

Trina Broussard – Inside My Love
http://www.expansionrecords.com

This cd has been in cold storage nearly ten years. The people at Expansion Records realized that it was a crime for this cd to be in lock down. Expansion gave Trina an opportunity by releasing this gem that was formerly to be released by another label years ago. Ten years in waiting did not dull the luster of this classic. The first time I gave “All I Need Is You” a spin on my radio show the listener lines all turned red on the station phone. Trina is so convincing that she makes you feel she is singing the song to you. Sailing is the most romantic song on the cd. It’s one of those songs that makes you want to squeeze you honey tight and not let her go. And the old classic Minnie Riperton “Inside My Love” is the icing on the cake. I really never cared for any Minnie Riperton songs that people covered but Trina did it justice and del ivered a knock out. Christmas can’t come fast enough, because “It’s Not Really Christmas” is on my list to play on my Christmas show (candle light and mistletoe). Thanks Expansion Records for delivering this gem to us.
