Urban Knights “Urban Knights VI” Narada Jazz This time the Ramsey Lewis family scored big with number six. I loved how Stanley Clarke’s “School Days” is covered. You get the funk drive of Stanley with a classy Ramsey Lewis keyboard arrangement. I noticed two well done remakes of early Ramsey Lewis covers are a part of this project (Come Back Jack and Brazilica). Come Back Jack is truly funky that shows off the talents of Nick Bisesi (sax) and the veteran Bobby Broom (guitar) and Brazilica a Marurice White tune written for Ramsey on an earlier project (a sweet smooth drive time instrumental). Urban Knights VI also has something for the Hip Hop/ Neo Soul lovers: A cover of Ushers My Boo and My Love Is True introducing Asalenna Crawford’s vocals. Out of all the Urban Knights projects this is my favorite.
