Dwayne “Smitty” Smith
Tight, funky, mellow with a killer groove is what I am about to describe is Dwayne “Smitty” Smith new cd This Is Me. This brother got some bottom (bass) and a supporting crew. I discovered this cd while on a search mission (looking for new music) at my favorite record store. The tracks Can’t Help It and Amazing Grace caught my attention while reading the tracks. I felt this cd was going to be a good investment so it was purchased. Not realizing that I had a jewel in my mist I slid the cd in my player and all at once it hit me “This CD is Smoking”. Funky G the first selection immediately get s your groove in check with Dwayne’s thunder bass licks and Gerald Albright’s sweet sax. Dwayne covers Stevie Wonder’s Can’t Help It with Will Downing on vocals in fine fashion. I love the way Dwayne and Will worked the song with style and elegance. Dwayne displays his craft with the title cut This Is Me, his bass is speaking to you with every stroke. My favorite is About That it has a peaceful feel and smooth relaxing groove with Jeff Lorber on keys. Last but lease “Smitty” takes you to church with Amazing Grace what a way to close a cd. There is something in this project for everyone. There is a space in your cd collection waiting for you to purchase This Is Me. Run down to your favorite record store and purchase it (or online).
